Chef Onie Burge founded Alchemy in 2000. After graduating with a degree in comparative religion from Barnard College, Onie moved to France to work as a Chef’s apprentice in several renound restaurants.
Her creative passion inspired her to pursue a culinary degree in baking and pastry at the Culinary Institute of America in the Napa Valley, which she completed in 1998.
Living and cooking in France, Spain, Germany, and San Francisco has given Onie a taste for the wondrous beauty of local, seasonal food. She is inspired by the jewelry of French Art Nouveau jeweler Rene Lalique as well as that of Russian Imperial Court jeweler Peter Paul Fabergè. Onie makes her home in San Francisco.
Onie uses the highest quality ingredients in her sweets and savories. They are local and organic whenever possible. The raw ingredients for all Alchemy chocolate comes from sustainable, slavery free sources.
